To beef up this theme at his concert this Saturday at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, the American-born Chinese says he will be giving his costumes and songs a new lease of life.
'The costumes are going to be extravagant and unique, yet comfortable,' he tells Life! over the telephone in English from Taiwan recently.
'I am going to engage in role-playing as well, so the audience will see me in different characters, just like the different facades a superhero usually has.'
Besides going big on costumes, which include a custom-made breastplate, he will put new spins on his songs by rearranging them completely.
Wang, who describes the music direction of the concert as 'edgy rock and traditional Chinese music rock 'n' roll', adds that some of his R&B ballads will be turned into powerful rock numbers, complete with multimedia accompaniments.
Born and bred in New York, Wang is a music graduate from liberal arts school Williams College. In 1995, he launched his music career in Taiwan, where his parents are from.
At his upcoming concert, Wang, who last performed here in 2006 for his Heroes Of The World tour, will play hits from his 12 albums over the past decade. He will also introduce four new songs from his soon-to-be-released album.
The album will be launched later next month after he completes his world tour, which also includes China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Over 90 per cent of the tickets to his Singapore show have been snapped up. He says he is excited to be back to bring a totally different performance for his fans here.
He has these words for them: 'It is going to be a heck of a show, so go crazy and get a good workout at my concert.'
