I'm juz curious to know wat type of music do u all guys like? I guess most r into pop n r'n'b rite coz they r the current craze in the Chinese music industry. Basically, I'm into more heavy stuffs like rock(but I dun reali like punk), heavy metal, alternative music. However I also like classical music n I'm quite into hip-hop stuffs. How abt u all guys? It'll be kewl if u all can list ur fav singers or bands coz I believe tat Lh is not the only singer tat u all like.

R&B is so getting on my nerves.. somehow after jay's "Fantasy" album the whole world is doing R&B.. although R&B in the Chinese music scene did not originate from him.. anyway, no offence to jay's fans, but I think his music has become too commercialised. I remember fang wen shan saying sth like, "if it's marketable, why not continuing doing it?" well. I like rock. I know there're many denominations of it, so probably slow rock, alternative, classic rock.. I listen to bands like Linkin Park, Bon Jovi, The Calling.. Mayday.. yeah~ sth like tt.. Creed, Lifehouse and Matchbox Twenty is beginning to sound quite stagnant.. after listening to Corrinne May's music, I realise that I actually like folk.. Beth Nielsen Chapman, Jewel.. Eva Cassidy.. and certain Sarah McLachlan songs.. and of cos there's jazz.. cant comprehend, yes, but it's growing on me.. Norah Jones.. jazz piano is sth quite different altogether.. hmm. Instrumental stuff is also cool, not necessarily classical.. though I would like to know more abt the classical music genre.. used to be exposed to a lot of band/orchestra music during my band days, but now kinda lost touch.. still love it as much anyway. Dreamz FM is good, they harmonise really well, very talented people actually. Dreamz FM, and singers like Cai Li Lian and Cai Chun Jia all originate from min ge can ting.. and I would say that they are the people who really can sing.. so I look up to them as well.. being singaporean, they're also effectively bilingual.. And also not forgetting Stevie Wonder. india.arie's pretty cool as well. some oldies here and there.. the carpenters, abba.. etc.. Actually besides the genre of music they do, as long as they're excellent vocalists, I would take notice of them.. Van Fan (his live singing is good!), Zhang Zhi Cheng.. Lin Zhi Xuan.. Jeff Chang, Jacky Cheung.. Zhu Fan Gang.. Lena Park.. quite like Pin Guan's voice as well. Ok, conclusion, basically I'm quite rojak.. haha~ ;D just dun give me techno or anyth tt sounds vaguely like it. dun even try..

Techno=noise, so should not b considered as music. Yeah, I tot Jay's music is becoming more commercialised too. It is not tat his is not up to standard so no offence to jay's fans. Lifehouse's songs sounds almost the same but Creed is still k lah. I like Eminem n he is the only rap artiste tat I like. Lauryn Hill is fantastic! 2 thumbs up. Pai seh but I dunno who is Zhu Fan Gang, even though I've heard tiz name b4. Gimme some info abt him.

Zhu Fan Gang's english name is Jacky too, so he's like the "xiao jacky", so called. Anyway, his first single is called "Gao Jie".. typical ballad, I would say, but I quite like it. He's got this smooth, alto voice.. his image is rather Craig David-ish, skull cap and all.. dont know how he got into the industry, but he was supposedly Elva's ex.. to hell with that anyway. so.. yeah~ he's new to the scene, so prob needs a little while more before we get to c his real talents. Eminem is full of angst and hatred! haha~ but yah lah, can't deny the fact tt he's good. it seems like rap and r&b is v.popular in the english music scene nowadays.. everyth is beginning to sound the same.. like Lee Hom said, the english music scene is seasoned already.. and seriously, kinda feel it's becoming quite stagnant.. ok, shld go listen to a little bit more Lauryn Hill other than "Can't Take My Eyes Off You".. I rem she did sth with Bob Marley (the reggae guru! haha~).. think Kelly Rowland (Destiny's Child) is pretty good too..

Oic... Yeah, the eng muscial industry is seasoned n hip-hop n rap r so pop now. Tat's y the chinese music industry follows suit. Hmmm.... Yeah Eminem's lyrics r kind of disturbing. if u actuali go n check my online journal, I post the lyrics of role model. omg, it is reali explicit but he is reali gd. I started to like Lauyrn Hill when she was in the fugees but I think she is even betteras a solo artiste. Yeah, she did a 'duet' with Bob Marley. Her influence on the rap industry esp the women's is reali profound. I can lend u her dic but I've only 2. Kelly is better than Beyounce(dunno if it is the correct spelling).

wah... nv knew u all started such a discussion... i muz put one leg in too~ (heehee direct translation of a chinese phrase...) hmm.... i like r&b... that's how i got to know LH anyway.. yeah i agree jay's music has bcum commercialised... used to realli like his songs... but now got the feeling that he's doing it not bcuz he likes it, but bcuz ppl will continue to buy it... but he's got credit for making r&b so well-liked... though many r juz blinded by the charm of the singers.....heard one guy who wrote songs sang something abt this...the lyrics went something like " i'll sing any song....as long as it's r&b u'll scream for me...blah blah..." and it goes on... it's true of cuz...but then, i still like r&b. i like classical music too. though not all of them.... some of them bored me, with all the depth n seriousness....oops sorry i'm dat kind of person... but dat doesnt mean i dunno how to appreciate them though~! hey liling high 5 for dat! i like modern classical music better... i'm not sure wad genre issit.... i think it's something like new age.... but not quite...hmm... i try to be open to all types of music... rock....hmm... if it's soft rock i'm ok wif it... but anything harder than dat....oh spare me... i agree linkin park has some great rock tracks... but play them continuously to me...i'll scream~! oh i like oldies too~! think they are special n irreplaceable...(is there such a word?) there's one song i realli like called "you're my everything"....carpenters is one of my fav too...cant do w/o them... yep n the few chi singers liling mentioned... i dunno much abt the eng pop though... cuz seldom listen to it anymore....hey next time me how they sound like~! maybe becuz i'm from chinese orchestra, i like oriental music too...not that kinda pop songs which add in an er-hu or gu zheng then they call themselves representing asia....but songs dat realli have a taste of oriental in them.. like some of jay's songs contain that... alright wun tok too much abt that... i'll bore u.... haiz....i wun b able to finish my list....so i'll stop here~

kewl. finali someone other than fayth replies. actuali modern classical music r mostly a mixture of pop. i always feel tat josh sounds classical more than pop but he insisted he is doing pop. *haa* funi guy. yeah new age can be consider as another branch of modern clasical music(i think so). btw, gd news to fans of kevin kern. he is coming to g around march n i'm going. most prob i'll b buying the 2nd most ex tix which is priced @ 80+. anyone wana come coz i'm going with my frenz anyway. fayth, norah jones is coming to sg 4 a concert but quite ex u know. i tot of getting the cheapest which is @ 40+. i heard frank sinatra n elvis' albs when i'm @ my frenzs' houses n *haa*(in singlish) I catch no ball. it is so slow n i'm abt to wander off to dreamland. hey fayth, can i borrow those albs to listen. now, should try to expose myself to jazz. abt harry connick jr, hmm.... izzit tat show which also features sandra bullock. ermm... izzit hope float? lil, continue to talk abt ur stuffs. i'm ure many out there r interested 2 know. yeah, carpenters r kewl n the lead singer's voice is so heavenly. eng pop sounds quite cheesy now although some may disagree. *haa* lil, u like linkin too? actuali i consider their music as mellow. try to listen to some bands like slipknot(yucks, they r virtuali screaming n they sound eerie), tat's even worse. anyway, i strongly recommend metallica's sm alb which is a collaboration btw metallica(of course) n san francisco symphony orchestra.heavymetal(actuali not very)+classical, i tot the alb is not bad. not the best but it is quite gd.btw, 4 those who don't buy Straits Times, there is tiz interview abt the current azyn music industry. they did talk abt lh but in a way, i feel tat they r trying 2 say tt lh is trying to go on the commercialised path. here is the addy : straitstimes.asia1.com.sg/life/story/0,4386,165183,00.html?
