Sony BMG spends NT1,500,000 on Leehom's Hua Tian Cuo. Money is spent on
building the stage scene for the Beijing Chinese Opera and also the antiques
used as props. Leehom will fall in love with an opera actress in the MV. The MV was shot for 24 hours continuously and to make to romantic, Leehom has to draw the actress's brow.
The MV of Hua Tian Cuo crosses between the ancient and modern times. Leehom
as a modern person enters into the Chinese opera world and falls in love with the actress and the actress symbolise Chinese opera so it's like Leehom is falling in love with Chinese opera. The 2 of them get along very well just like the concept of the chinked out album, where R&B mixes well with Chinese opera. Originally, Hua Tian Cuo is a story about a rich girl who encounters a poor scholar at a flower field. To integrate the MV with the concept of the album, the record company spends NT1,500,000 and invited top Chinese opera actors and opera makeup artists to put the make up onto the actress of the MV. Using professional movie backdrops and renting antiques as props such as screens, tables and
chairs made the set look exactly like older times. Leehom has also invited the 5 professional opera musicians who helped in during the recording to help him film the MV. All the fine details were taken care of and it was more like a movie than a MV!
As Leehom was still busy recording his new album during the time of the MV
shoot, he has created a new record of not sleeping for 5 continuous days! When he shot this new MV, they really worked round the clock. As they have invited professional opera actors, they have started rehearsing 10 days before the shoot. Everything they practice, it would take up to 6-7 hours! As the actress has to act she has been practising with the teacher. It takes 2 hours for her makeup to convert her modern face to an opera face. Although she only appears in the MV with her opera face for 1 or 2 minutes, it takes so much time and effort! Leehom was busy recording and haven't been sleeping for 5 days and since he has the most shots in the MV, he has learned to fall a sleep in 30 seconds. No matter where he was, whether he is fixing his makeup, meal time, as long as there is time, he will fall asleep!
Last time in the MV of "Shangri-la", Leehom washed the actress's hair, this time in Hua Tian Cuo's MV, to make the MV more romantic and in harmony of the Chinese Opera theme; Leehom helps the actress draw her brow! Leehom has never helped a girl to do her makeup and when the MV director tells him to do so; he tries to help the actress draw her brow. It took him 8 times before he got it right. This romantic scene turned to a comedy! Leehom says he have seen guys helping the girl draw her brow in ancient stories, so he requested the director to let him try. However unlike his talented fingers on the keyboard, Leehom isn't so talented with brow drawing and realised drawing is so much more difficult than piano playing!
Leehom's 2nd chapter of the Chinked out music "Gai Shi Ying Xiong" will be
presale on the 16th. There will be a limited edition of Leehom's 'behind the stage' photo book. In the new album, Leehom has incorporated traditional Chinese opera music into his R&B and in presale version of the album, the MV of Hua Tian Cuo and its making of will be included as a VCD for fans. The 10000 limited presale albums will include a photo of Leehom.
Leehom will hold his new MV launch at 7pm at the Taipei National Palace Museum. Besides being able to buy the new presale version of the album, fans will be able to see the new MV and also get to see real Chinese Opera actors performing. Leehom would also be the first pop artist to hold an event at the National Palace Museum and this MV premier has also collaborated with a charity. Some orphans from Sheng Dao Zhi Jia will appear at the event and Leehom will raise money for the orphanage and allow these children to appreciate Chinese opera. Leehom will also perform his new song "Hua Tian Cuo" live.
